The Hyundai Sonata is a mid-size sedan that Hyundai has produced since 1985, with the eighth generation (DN8) launching in 2019 as the brand's design and technology showcase. Built primarily at Hyundai's Asan plant in South Korea — with North American units assembled in Montgomery, Alabama — the DN8 introduced Hyundai's "Sensuous Sportiness" design language, characterised by a sweeping coupe-like roofline, a wide cascading grille and the signature "Hidden Lighting Lamps", chrome daytime running light strips that appear as bright chrome trim when off and illuminate into the hood line when on. The DN8 rides on the third-generation Hyundai-Kia K platform shared with the Kia K5, and was offered with the Smartstream family of engines — the 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated four, the 1.6-litre turbo, and a hybrid powertrain — plus the high-performance N Line variant with the 290-horsepower 2.5-litre turbo. The Sonata has never been a volume model in Brazil (where Hyundai's local production focuses on the HB20 and Creta), so most Sonatas in the Brazilian market are personal imports, which makes this mod a way to bring the Korean flagship into the Proton Bus Simulator world where the real car is rare.
