About the Real Nissan Silvia S13

The fifth-generation Nissan Silvia, internal code S13, was produced from 1988 to 1993 at Nissan's Oppama plant in Japan. Released alongside the related 180SX hatchback (with pop-up headlights) and exported as the 200SX in Europe and 240SX in North America, the S13 paired a rear-wheel-drive chassis with a multi-link suspension and the iconic CA18DET 1.8-litre turbocharged inline-four — later replaced by the now-legendary SR20DET 2.0-litre turbo. The S13 won Japan's Car of the Year award in 1988 and went on to become the founding platform of the global drifting scene, popularised by Keiichi Tsuchiya's video appearances and the rise of D1 Grand Prix in the early 2000s.
