About the Real BMW M3 E30 Sport Evolution

The BMW M3 E30 Sport Evolution — known in BMW circles as the Evolution III — was the third and final homologation upgrade of the first-generation M3, built between December 1989 and March 1990 at BMW's Munich plant. BMW Motorsport produced just 600 units to qualify the car for Group A and DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) touring car racing, where the E30 M3 became one of the most successful saloon racers of the era. Its naturally aspirated 2.5-litre S14B25 inline-four was the largest-displacement S14 BMW ever produced, rated at around 238 PS, and the Sport Evolution wore a unique aero kit with a deeper front splitter, brake-duct cutouts and an adjustable rear wing.
