The Chevrolet Chevette SL is one of the longest-running and most beloved Brazilian compact sedans of the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Built by GM do Brasil at the São Caetano do Sul plant from 1973 to 1993, the Chevette ran on General Motors' global T-Car platform and became a household name in Brazil with over 1.6 million units produced. This Proton Bus Simulator mod recreates the SL trim — the upmarket variant of the Chevette family — with seventeen custom skins covering every era of the model, from its pre-1979 boxed-headlight pre-facelift through to the modernized 1987 series II.

About the Real Chevrolet Chevette SL

The Chevrolet Chevette is a subcompact car produced by General Motors do Brasil from 1973 to 1993, marking GM's first application of the global T-Car platform in the Brazilian market. Engineered in parallel with the Opel Kadett C in Germany and the Vauxhall Chevette in the United Kingdom, the Brazilian Chevette was tuned for the country's road conditions and ethanol-friendly fuel system, and was offered as a 2-door sedan, 3-door hatch (Chevette Hatch), 5-door wagon (Chevette Marajó) and a small pickup (Chevy 500). The SL trim sat at the top of the Chevette sedan lineup and bundled chrome trim, upgraded upholstery and the larger 1.6-litre engine. The Chevette received two major facelifts over its two-decade run: the 1979 revision modernised the front end with squared lights, and the 1987 series II brought a cleaner clamshell hood and integrated bumpers. Production ended in 1993 after over 1.6 million units, with the Corsa A picking up the entry-level baton in 1994.
